THE DECISIONS THAT SHAPE THE WORK

A book is an experience before it is a page.

Cover, typography, illustration, and layout work together. The best direction starts with the reading experience, then carries a coherent visual language through every format.

01

First impression

Balance genre recognition with the character of your particular book.

02

Reading rhythm

Choose type and spacing that support long, comfortable reading.

03

Physical format

Set trim size, page count, and production requirements before final files.

A USEFUL FIRST CONVERSATION

Bring your questions.
And a little context.

For authors with a stable manuscript, a clear visual idea, or a book that needs its first design brief. Illustrated interiors may need earlier planning.

GOOD QUESTIONS TO ASK

Start with clarity.

For authors preparing the visual and physical experience of a book.

Is book layout design a separate service?

Book layout design is included in the formatting discussion. Complex illustrated interiors require a different scope from a text-only novel.

Can you design a full print wrap?

Yes, when trim size, page count, paper type, and printer specifications are known. Spine dimensions depend on those details.

Is narrator casting included?

Casting, recording, editing, and distribution should each be confirmed in the quote. Samples help establish the intended voice.

How many illustrations are included?

The quote defines the count, sizes, complexity, revision rounds, and usage rights. An illustration list makes the scope concrete.

Are lettering and coloring included?

These are separate production stages. Specify whether you need pencils, inks, colors, lettering, or complete pages.
